It's your time ...

Don't let other people be in control of your time, energy, talents and skills, mission or purpose, and life.

God has given it to you. You will have to give account to Him of how you spent, applied, fulfilled and lived it - not those other people.

Without feeling one ounce of guilt, you have every right to say 'No' to people in order to follow where God is directing you instead.  (see Mark 1:37,38 NKJV)

In Mark 1:29,35 we read that Jesus stayed with Simon and his family. Yet He did not feel obligated to do as they wanted. Often it's the people who give to us who think that that gives them the right to control and manage us.

God only uses other people to confirm our mission or purpose, never to be the first ones to tell us what it is and to expect us to follow their direction - that belongs to God alone. (see Acts 9:10-12,15,16 and Acts 10:19,20 and Acts 13:2-4)

We see from Mark 1:35 that Jesus prioritized prayer. Through prayer and the study of the Bible, God will direct you in your mission. There is only one Director of mission.

And if someone else comes to you with something different than what you heard from God, it would be wise to reject their words. (see 1 Kings 13)

Sometimes we may not correctly understand where God is leading, but if we stick to what we believe He has revealed, He will help us to understand correctly.

Yes, sometimes people's opposition to your thoughts or their suggestions for a different path to take may be God's way to help you to get to a more complete and accurate understanding of His will.

No one should ever be forced to accept other people's instructions if he or she does not believe that it agrees with the will and direction of God, nor should you just steamroller ahead in the path that you believe God is guiding if you experience opposition to it.

In situations where people disagree about what they believe a person's mission is, they should all commit to praying about it until God makes His will clear to all involved.
