Very, very few Christians understand God's restoration as described in 2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV. The number of people who say "Amen" when this teaching is preached but who will then go and treat a repentant child of God like the older brother treated and spoke of the younger brother in Luke 15, is shockingly unacceptable. Even many preachers of the message and pastors are included in that number. 

This behavior can continue for years and decades even while the person lives a transformed life in their presence. Matthew 5:11,12 NKJV provide words of great comfort.

A boomerang is coming your way, and you determine where it will hit you or if you will catch it with a grateful smile. Wait for it, it is coming. (see Matthew 7:12 and Luke 6:31)

Sometimes you can't accept an answer other than the one you have come to God to receive. You have to keep on asking today or go back to Him day after day. Even He doesn't want you to accept a different answer, because He wants you to demonstrate that you know His character, faith in who He is. (see Matthew 15:21-28 and Luke 18:1-8)

It's huge to the heart of God when He can find someone who is willing to act and speak in accordance with His will and, unbeknownst to that person, relieve untold suffering. (compare 1 Samuel 16:11-13 with Psalm 23:5)

There is a difference between righteousness and unrighteousness. There is a difference between someone who has and someone who has not repented of their sins. Know the difference and don't be deceived.
